All England Team Champs

9 teams split into a group of 4 and 5 with the winners progressing to the final

Group 1 was a tough group with Stadium from Sussex, Caversham from Berks, Morris Motors of Oxford and Kelsey Arms from Kent. Oxford and Berks went into the last game needing to beat the other to progress, a 4-1 for the Oxford team being enough

Group 2 contained Red Lion from Bucks, White Swan from Cambs, Langstone Harbour from Hants, South Park Constitutional Club from Surrey and Rushden Band Club from Northants. Surrey's team comfortably won the group by 4 legs.

The final pitted the two teams from Oxford and Surrey. Pauline WIthey won the toss and took breaks 2 and 4. Keith Sheard beat Dave Constable with the break but Steven Sheard lost to Laurie Roberts on his break. Ray Sturgess won against the break against Vernon Sparkes. Pauline had a chance to take the final 3-1 with a final ball at the 200 against Jim Greensted but she took out the black peg, causing a timed break decider. In the decider Surrey's Andy Finn only went off with 1500, and Kevin Godfrey replied with 9k to give the title to the Morris Motors.

Special Ladies Open

Pauline made it two national titles in a day with victory over Jean Over in the final. Jean was 3500 down with her break to come and she had recovered the defecit about halfway through the second leg. However Pauline got the balls back and won by about 1500.
The plate was won by Berkshire's Sue Redmond beating Marilyn Izzard.

Well done to all the winners
